Fort Lauderdale Chooses Two Vendors For New Retail Outlets By Benet Wilson/Airports
Passengers flying out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport will have a choice of new retail outlets after a Broward County selection committee reconnected two new management companies.
AMS South Florida, a consortium made up of partners Hudson Group and Tara Enterprises, has been tapped to take over concessions in Terminals 1 and 2. Paradies Broward LLC was chosen for Terminals 3 and 4. The choices were made by a selection committee that included the mayor of Fort Lauderdale and seven Broward County commissioners.
AMS South Florida plans to operate outlets including Hudson News, Sunglass Hut and clothing store Life Is Good. Paradies is proposing stores including CNBC News, A1A Travelmart and Brooks Brothers. The contracts are expected to bring in a minimum annual guarantee for the airport of up to $6.5 million.
The selection committee chose the companies, but the contracts still need to be approved by the board of county commissioners, said airport spokesman Greg Myer. 'We send them to the board and they have five days to comment,' he said. 'The airport then negotiates the contract and the board approves it.' The stores will start coming on line by late summer, he added.
